Daphne Lundi is Brooklyn-born and based urban planner, climate policymaker, writer, and artist. She is currently a Public Scholar at The Moynihan Center at The City College of New York where her research and writing explores the intersections between science fiction and city planning. Previously, she was the Deputy Director for Living Streets & Public Spaces at the NYC Mayor’s Office of Climate and Environmental Justice where she led a team focused on developing policy initiatives for transportation resiliency and sustainability, waste management policy, green infrastructure planning, air quality, open space access, and extreme heat mitigation. She has a B.A. in sociology from Wellesley College and an M.S. in community and regional planning from The University of Texas at Austin. She has taught urban planning courses as well as design studios at Hunter College, City College of New York, and Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. She was a Year 8 member of NEW INC and a Bandung Resident at MoCADA and A4. A self-taught sewist, she is interested in garment construction and the reimaging of textiles and unconventional materials to tell stories about spaces and places.
